I bet that’s not a headline you expected to wake up to! EVE Online developer CCP Games confirmed this morning that it will soon be a wholly owned subsidiary of Pearl Abyss, the Korean developer and publisher of Black Desert Online. CCP Games is currently owned by a group of financial investors, who will eventually be selling their shares in the company as part of the deal that will be executed over the next several months. CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson and Pearl Abyss CEO Robin Jung issued joint statements to the press this morning:
“Pearl Abyss is a fast-growing company with lots to offer in terms of technology, capability and vision. I believe our two companies have a lot to learn from each other. We are very excited to join forces with them and achieve great new heights for our companies, our games and – above all – our players.” – Hilmar Veigar Pétursson
