Funcom announced today that it’s teamed up with web hosting service Pingperfect both to host Conan Exiles’ official servers for Funcom and to offer custom hosting services to players intent on running their own Conan sandbox shard. The official servers will offer both PvE and PvP experiences across six different ruleset types: purist, relaxed, hardcore, roleplay, experimental, and random. Private servers should be a snap:
For custom servers through Pingperfect, the base price looks to be about $14 a month here in the US for 15 game slots, which goes on up to $70 for 70 game slots, with discounts for paying longer-term and extra charges for things like Teamspeak slots, white-label branding, SSD hosting, and CPU priority — the biggest, fastest custom server with all the bells and whistles would run over $1500 per year.
Oh yeah, and modders, you’re going to be happy: Starting with early access at the end of January, Conan Exiles will have full modding support.
“Mod developers will be able to download a custom Unreal Engine editor, letting them create a whole host of modifications to the game,” Funcom says. “Everything from changing aspects of gameplay to adding new monsters and items to the game can be done with the modding tools. A mod management tool which connects to the Steam Workshop allows players to easily load in the mods they want to play with.”
