Here are a whole bunch of Black Desert gameplay vids with an English patch

Reddit user asciisyaez has posted a plethora of Black Desert gameplay videos. The footage was captured on the fantasy sandbox’s Korean beta servers, but it makes use of an English translation patch, which comes in handy if you’d like to examine the game’s character creation screens or portions of the interface in detail.

Videos include Witch, Valkyrie, Ranger, and Sorcerer gameplay, as well as a look at creating a Blader. You can click past the cut to see 14 minutes worth of Witch gameplay.

Landmark devs: Respawning is working as designed

Addressing complaints that respawning mobs and resources are broken in Landmark, Daybreakcame out today to say that, on the contrary, everything is working as intended.

The post goes into depth explaining how the respawn system works. In a nutshell, the more players camp an area, the greater the chance that all of the respawns will happen somewhere else on the island, giving the local impression that nothing is happening. But even though the system is working, the widespread confusion over it is leading the team to look into alternate design methods.

“Even though this is working as designed, it’s clearly not working in a way that’s obvious or convenient to people trying to find trees to cut down or monsters to kill,” Daybreak said. “There are a few different ways to solve this issue which we’re discussing, and we will determine the best solution and roll this out to Landmark (and EQNext) as time permits. However, finding and implementing the best solution will take time and likely won’t be done in the near future, so as a short term solution we’re going to reinstate some overnight server restarts, since this forces all spawns to reset.”

Tree of Life persecutes thieves and stymies griefers

Since landing on Steam early access last week, Tree of Life has been patching frequently and furiously. The team is not only working on the underlying hardware but also adding several features to make players feel safe and secure in this sandbox.

Now players can lock up their goods in an effort to thwart robbers. And if those thieves abscond with hard-earned materials? Why, they’ll find themselves branded a criminal (apparently, stealing didn’t trigger this before now). The team also fixed a bug that allowed the worst of the worst evil players to shed their criminal status by being bad for 600 hours.

Other changes that have arrived include improved walls to shut out griefers and a nerf to the destructive efforts of the wildlife.

Survival sandbox Novus Inceptio is now on Greenlight

Post-apocalyptic sci-fantasy MMO Novus Inceptio is now on Steam Greenlight.  The indie title aims to diverge from current MMO norms and create an “integrated living world” featuring “hardcore suvival action, tactics, and strategy.”

The Greenlight description mentions character aging and permadeath, attributes that increase with use and decrease with neglect, and effects such as illnesses, injuries, and exhaustion. All ofNovus Inceptio’s items are made by players, and the Steam description devotes quite a bit of verbiage to things like exploration, building, and freeform character advancement. Early access is planned for Q4 of 2015.
